Maruti Swift has bolstered its lineup with an extensive range of CNG models. The introduction of the CNG variant for the third-generation Swift in 2022 marked a significant step. Now, the latest fourth-generation Swift is anticipated to join the CNG lineup soon.
The forthcoming Maruti Swift CNG is poised to elevate its mileage performance, aiming to provide users with enhanced efficiency. Even a modest increase of 1-2 km in mileage can translate into substantial yearly savings for drivers. The preceding third-generation Swift CNG model boasted a remarkable fuel efficiency of 30.9 km/kg, setting the bar high within its segment.

The current fourth-generation Swift is exclusively available in petrol variants, featuring a new 1.2-litre Z-Series engine engineered for optimal performance and fuel economy. Delivering exhilarating rides with ample torque and fuel-saving capabilities, the fourth-generation Swift achieves a best-in-segment fuel efficiency of 24.80 km/L with manual transmission and 25.75 km/L with the AMT gearbox. The upcoming Swift CNG variant will be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The new Swift CNG is poised to lead its class in mileage. Among its key competitors, the Tata Tiago CNG offers a certified fuel efficiency of 26.49 km/kg, while the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios achieves 27 km/kg. Potential buyers within this price range may also consider alternatives such as the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter, offering respective CNG mileages of 26.99 km/kg and 27.10 km/kg.

However, it’s essential to note that fuel efficiency can vary based on driving conditions, skills, and the use of accessories like air conditioning. Transitioning from petrol/diesel to CNG may present a noticeable difference in power and torque output for first-time users.
Regarding pricing, the CNG option for the third-generation Swift was available in VXI and ZXI variants, priced approximately Rs 90,000 higher than their petrol counterparts. A similar pricing strategy is anticipated for the fourth-generation Swift CNG, with the petrol model starting at Rs 6.49 lakh.
Maruti Swift has continually evolved to enhance fuel efficiency with each new engine iteration. From the first-generation model in 2005, with a fuel efficiency of 12.36 km/L, to the second-generation achieving 20.4 km/L in 2010, and the third-generation boasting 22.56 km/L in 2018, the Swift has shown remarkable progress. The latest fourth-generation Swift, introduced in 2024, exhibits an impressive improvement of 3.19 km/L in mileage compared to its predecessor. Additionally, Maruti has focused on reducing the Swift’s weight over the years, with the fourth-generation model weighing in at 925 kg, indicating a strategic balance between efficiency and performance.
